  1. Exasperation would be a hard emotion to convey via sound, but you did a very good job of it. You used somewhat irritating or jarring sounds, like a baby crying, a kettle whistling, an alarm and an eagle screaming. You interspersed it with synths and other ambient noises, as well as a cello playing the same notes repeatedly. You manipulated the space of the soundscape with echoing footsteps and wind. This creates the illusion of a large, open area. Some of the sounds panned back and forth. It created a sense of directionality, as well as movement. You created depth by layering the different sounds. It made it hard to picture a certain setting, but produced a sense of confusion and uneasiness. You explored the Gestalt Principle of similarity by exclusively using dark, intense sounds and sci-fi synths. The soundscape creeps along at a slow pace, making it very tense. The combination of big, open sounds and noises like sirens, whistles and crying is slightly grating and also increase the tension, as do the repetitive cello notes. It sounds lonely, but puts you on edge at the same time. This arrangement of elements helps to express the emotion of exasperation.

  2. The way you explored the space of the soundscape was great. When the footsteps started to get louder, it felt like someone was walking right at me. Also, some of the noises switched from the left to the right, creating space in the sound. There was a nice layered sound effect with the stringed instrument, eagle, wolf howling, and another noise that almost sounded like wind traveling very fast. The illusion that you make with only a few sounds makes it feel like there is a lot going on, which effectively uses the Gestalt Principles.

  3. I enjoyed this very much! I thought that this expressed the emotion of exasperation well because of the different aspects that were incorporated into this piece.
I liked the instrumental sounds that you had put in there as well as the real life sounds that were incorporated into it. it brings more of the human emotion into it. You used the sounds to bring the different stages of exasperation. the listener can also hear the distress and the depression of the one that is afflicted about not being able to find the solution to their problem. I heard a lot of the sounds come up from the back to the front in an effective manipulation of space. You also decided that the tempo of song to be almost too slow. This was a great manipulation of time by making the listener feel uncomfortable.
